Pat Healy wants answers on UFC future “I’m not backing out, like other guys did”

Pat “Bam Bam” Healy was meant to fight for the Strikeforce Lightweight Championship this weekend against Gilbert Melendez. However due to an injury to champion Melendez, Pat will now face Kurt Holobaugh on Saturday night.

Losing your title shot due to an injury to your opponent is frustrating, but for Healy his worries run deeper.

“Bam Bam” revealed to the Talking Brawls MMA podcast, that he is completely in the dark over his UFC and Zuffa future and explained his frustration at being misled.

“I’m finding my motivation in the uncertainty that the UFC is giving me about my future. If that doesn’t motive me, I don’t know what will, I know that’s where I want to be.”

“All I really wanted from [Zuffa] was a guarantee, for the fact that I’m taking it and not backing out, like other guys did, all i wanted was the guarantee of having a job when it’s over.”

“It’s the same company, I’ve won 5 in a row for them. I don’t know what more I have to do. In fact three guys directly coming off losses to me are all in [the UFC].”

“They just won’t commit to anything, it’s been a very frustrating process to be honest.”

“I can’t say that they lied to me intentionally, but I certainly was told things that literally a couple of days later, I find out it’s not true.”

“They told me it would be a long time before anybody would be fighting in the UFC from Strikeforce and it would be a good six before everything got sorted “so if you want to fight before six months, you’ve got to get on this card” and then the next day they are announcing match ups.”

“I don’t want to say they lied to me, maybe a miscommunication on their end, with so many different people in their business.”
