Gunnar Nelson forced to withdraw from UFC 160 bout due to injury

The UFC announced on their official twitter moments ago that Gunnar Nelson (11-0-1) has been forced to withdraw from his UFC 160 bout with Mike Pyle (24-8-1) due to an injury.

Gunnar provided an update on his personal twitter

“Really sorry 2 be out UFC 160. Will have surgery, heal fast and be ready for action later this summer! Thx for all the great support.”

Gunnar’s father and manager Haraldur Nelson revealed to us the injury was to Gunnar’s knee.

He is expected to be out for 3-6 weeks.

Mike Pyle will now take on Rick “The Horror” Story (15-6) on 26th May in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The last couple of years have been mixed for Rick Story, going 2-3 in his last 5 bouts. However he defeated Quinn Mulhern via 1st round TKO at UFC 158 last month and is the only blemish on number one contender Johny Hendricks record.

Pyle, who made his professional debut vs ‘Rampage’ Jackson, has won 6 of his last 7 only losing to top prospect Rory MacDonald back in 2011.
