Worldwide MMA Preview – Tech-Krep FC, Fight Time 29, Shooto 61

It is the calm before the storm this weekend as we have a quiet one before the major promotions all host cards in the coming weeks.

Tech-Krep FC open the weekend’s action in Novosibirsk, Russia. The main event features former Bellator fighter Michail Tsarev. He went 1-2 in Bellator with defeats to Lyman Good and Douglas Lima. After Bellator he won five straight concluding with a victory over Dennis Hallman but the streak ended in a defeat to Jesse Taylor last August. His opponent, Artem Reznikov is a relatively inexperienced Kazakh. He is 5-1 with all of his previous fights taking place in Kazakhstan.

On Friday night in Miami, Florida it is Fight Time 29 and the card is headlined by a featherweight title fight between Jason Soares and Danny Chavez. Soares is 8-0 and he competed on the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter, losing to Julian Erosa in the first round. Six of his wins are by submission with only one decision on his record. Chavez is on a three fight winning streak with a professional record of 7-1.

On Saturday the action is in Rio de Janeiro for Shooto Brazil 61. The main event is a light heavyweight fight between Ronny Markes and Cassio de Oliveira. Ronny Markes fought in the UFC between 2011 and 2014, going 3-2 in the promotion. Since leaving the UFC he has only fought once which was a win in World Series of Fighting. Oliveira is a veteran journeyman who has over 20 fights. Most of his fights have been in Brazilian regional promotions but his last outing was a defeat in Russia.

There are a number of young Nova Uniao fighters on the card, the most notable is the 6-0 lightweight Alcides Nunes. He has four wins by TKO/KO and he was the man responsible for Jose Aldo’s rib injury prior to UFC189.
