Stipe Miocic Meets Alistair Overeem At UFC 203

Miocic Overeem

After winning the UFC heavyweight title against Fabricio Werdum just over a week ago, Stipe Miocic already knows his next opponent.

The Cleveland native will face Alistair Overeem on September 10th in his home city at UFC 203. UFC announced the news in the early hours of Thursday morning.

A former DREAM, PRIDE and Strikeforce heavyweight legend Overeem has seen and done it all in MMA… apart from fighting for the UFC championship. The Dutchman has a number of significant wins in his career but his latest 4-fight victorious streak, taking out Stefan Struve, Roy Nelson, Junior Dos Santos and Andrei Arlovski, has earned him a shot at the top prize in MMA.

In his way, though, is the tough-as-nails, fast-as-lightening, hard-hitting new champion in front of his home crowd. Before winning the title, Miocic, like Overeem, was on a fantastic run of 5 wins in 6 fights and will enter his first title defence with boatloads of confidence.

UFC 203 takes place on Saturday, September 10th at Q Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
