Irishman Karl Moore to fight for 2nd belt against Mauro Cerilli at Cage Warriors 89

[Press Release] Light-heavyweight champion Karl Moore will fight for the vacant heavyweight title in the main event in Belgium

Cage Warriors’ debut event in Belgium will see reigning light-heavyweight champion Karl Moore aim to becoming the first two-weight Cage Warriors world champion since Conor McGregor.

Northern Ireland’s Moore captured the Cage Warriors light-heavyweight championship at Cage Warriors 81 when he defeated former TUF competitor Josh Clark in Dublin.

And at Cage Warriors 89 on November 25 in Antwerp he will bid to win the vacant heavyweight world title when he takes on Italian heavyweight Mauro ‘The Hammer’ Cerilli in the main event of the evening.

Cerilli comes into the fight with a record of 10 wins, two losses and is currently riding a three-fight win streak. Moore has also won his last three contests and boasts a record of eight wins, one loss.

If Moore is successful, he’ll follow in the footsteps of UFC superstar McGregor, who captured the Cage Warriors featherweight and lightweight world titles before joining the UFC and repeating his achievements on the sport’s biggest stage.

Speaking ahead of the contest Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan said: “Karl Moore has a huge opportunity to become our first two-weight world champion since Conor McGregor.

“And if he’s successful in Antwerp on November 25, I’m sure a lot of people – including the UFC – will be paying very close attention to him.

“But he has a tough test in front of him. Cerilli is tough and in good form. I’m looking forward to a great title fight.”

Former UFC bantamweight Cindy Dandois and her brother, middleweight Ben Dandois, are both in action on the card, along with another Belgian favourite, welterweight Tommy Depret.
