Gunnar Nelson now set to face DeMarques Johnson not Rich Attonito at UFC in Nottingham

Gunnar Nelson’s opponent for UFC on FUEL 5 in Nottingham has been changed again according to a source close to his new opponent DeMarques ‘Darkness’ Johnson

Yesterday, Gunnar’s father had announced that Nelson’s original opponent Pascal Krauss had been forced to withdraw due to injury and that he would now face Rich Attonito, however, things have changed due to weight concerns and The Ultimate Fighter veteran Johnson has stepped in on short notice.

DeMarques Johnson posted earlier today on Twitter, announcing that he had his next fight booked, but he didn’t reveal who he would be facing

“And shit jus got real. Got my next fight.”

“Concerns over making the welterweight limit on short-notice prompted Attonito to withdraw,” a source close to the fighter told MMAjunkie.com.

We spoke to Gunnar’s training partners Cathal Pendred and Cage Warriors middleweight champion Chris Fields, who made it clear that they are not worried in the slightest by the repeated changing of opponents

“Three different guys, same exact outcome, choked the fuck out.” said Fields

Pendred who is currently over training with Gunnar in Mjolnir reiterated that Nelson remains unfazed

“This stuff doesn’t phase him. He’s just preparing to fight on the 29th. It doesn’t matter who.”
