Irish Prospect Conor McCarthy Signs with Cage Warriors

Highly touted Irish prospect, Conor McCarthy, has signed a multi-fight contract with Cage Warriors. Multiple sources confirmed the news to SevereMMA.com on Friday afternoon.

Training out of SBG Naas, the Peter Queally protégé has long been heralded as one of the most exciting amateurs to break through the Irish domestic scene in recent years, amassing an 11-2 record in the space of 2 years.

Since turning professional earlier this year, McCarthy has notched back-to-back 1st-round stoppages under the Cage Legacy promotional banner. Speaking to Ian O’Neill after his most recent win last month, McCarthy expressed interest in potentially going down the Cage Warriors route.

With many fans and media (the author included) calling for a step-up in competition, it’s likely that our wishes will be granted now that the 23-year-old fighter from Clane, Kildare, will be under the stewardship of storied Cage Warriors matchmaker, Ian Dean.

Speaking to SevereMMA.com following his signing, McCarthy explained his decision to follow the path well paved by many Irish fighters who’ve come before him:

“Cage Warriors was the best option for me. It’s a great platform to showcase my skills. There’s a history of Irish fighters doing well in Cage Warriors and going to the UFC, and I plan on following in their footsteps. I can’t wait to let the hands go in the yellow gloves!”

McCarthy is expected to make his promotional debut in September 2024.
