Cage Contender 12 Breakdown: John Michael Shiel vs Ross Pointon

MIDDLEWEIGHT: John Michael Shiel (SBGi) v Ross “The Gladiator” Pointon (Gladiator Gym)

Ross “The Gladiator” Pointon is best known from his stint on The Ultimate Fighter 3 in 2006. He was part of Team Ken Shamrock and was the first European TUF competition along with unknown (at the time) Michael Bisping.

Pointon has tested himself against some of the worlds best. He has taken on big names such as Michael Bisping, Rich Clementi, and current Dream Welterweight Champion and former Strikeforce Welterweight Number 1 contender Marius Žaromskis

He even fought the huge Valentijn Overeem, brother of UFC Number 1 Heavyweight contender Alistair, only to lose by first round TKO.

John Michael Sheil is currently 6-0 as a professional, holding a win over Victor Cheng and two wins against tough Irishman John Redmond.

In the Victor Cheng (7-1 pre-fight) bout for Cage Warriors, Sheil was down 2 rounds to nil on most scorecards, when he unleashed a flurry of punches in the 3rd round to TKO the favoured Cheng. Check out the video below

The come from behind win left John Michael Sheil in tears of joy in the cage afterwards, clearly showing how much this meant to him.

Sheil was originally booked to fight fellow unbeaten fighter, Cage Contender Light-Heavyweight Champion Marius Lapenas for the title, but Lapenas was forced off the card due to injury

The unbeaten Irishman will be looking to impress in order to reclaim the Marius Lapenas title shot.
