Interview with Jeff Monson ahead of Cage Contender XIV in Dublin

Ahead of his Cage Contender Light Heavyweight title fight on July 21st, MMA Legend and noted anarchist Jeff “The Snowman” Monson takes a few minutes out of training to answer some pre-event questions to give us an idea of what to expect.

Cage Contender fans are looking forward to watching The Snowman on July 21st are you excited about fighting in Ireland or is it just another day at the office?

JM: I always enjoy coming to Europe. I’ve had some good experiences and met some people in Ireland that I now am mates with.

Your pedigree is known globally, your opponent Fraser Opie by contrast is really only known in the UK. What do you expect from him?

JM: Fraser Opie definitely has experience in the cage and is a well rounded fighter. Notoriety means nothing in this sport. Your reputation wins no fights.

You have fought in Belfast in the past, will this be your first trip to the Irish Republic?

JM: I’ve been to the Republic of Ireland twice to do seminars and also meet up with some folks and have a chat about anarchism.

If fans are undecided why should they buy a ticket to your fight on 21st July? What should they expect?

JM: This is going to be an exciting fight. I’m dropping to light heavyweight which is a big deal for me and fighting a tough local favorite looking to make a bigger name for himself.

Jeff “The Snowman” Monson fights Fraser “The Omen” Opie for the vacant Cage Contender Light Heavyweight Title at Cage Contender XIV on July 21st at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght, Dublin.
