Jon Jones opens as massive 13 to 1 favourite over Vitor Belfort at UFC 152

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones hasn’t played the role of underdog since his UFC 94 match-up against grizzled veteran and Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 1 finalist Stephan Bonnar.

He thrashed “The American Psycho” for three full rounds in January 2009 and hasn’t looked back.

“Bones” is now tasked with welcoming former UFC champion Vitor Belfort back to the 205-pound division, following what has to qualify as one of the craziest 12 hours in mixed martial arts (MMA) history.

Dan Henderson got hurt, UFC 151 was canceled, Jones refused to fight Chael Sonnen, Lyoto Machida turned down the title fight he just earned, Chris Weidman wanted to move up in weight and Anderson Silva teased a quick return.

In other words, “slow news day.”

Now that the dust has settled and the smoke has cleared (we think), Jones will face off against Belfort at the UFC 152 pay-per-view (PPV) event at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on Sept. 22, 2012.

And he’ll do it as the -1300 favorite on Sportsbook.

That leaves “The Phenom,” who was originally scheduled to throw hands against Alan Belcher at UFC 153 in Rio, as the +700 underdog for his trip up to “Hogtown.”

You might want to get on that while the gettin’ is good.
