Injured Phillips replaced by John Michael Sheil against Hucin at Cage Warriors 49

Officials have today confirmed the addition of a middleweight bout to the main card for Cage Warriors 49, which takes place at St David’s Hall in Cardiff on Saturday, October 27.

Unbeaten Irishman John Michael Sheil will take on France’s Faycal Hucin at Cage Warriors Fighting Championship’s first ever show in Wales.

Sheil (8-0-0) picked up two Cage Warriors victories in 2011, including an impressive TKO of Victor Cheng at CWFC Fight Night 1 in Jordan.

The 27-year-old Dublin native, who also holds wins over Ross Pointon and John Redmond, will join SBG team-mate Cathal Pendred – who fights Bruno Carvalho – on the card for CWFC’s 10th show of the year.

Hucin (7-3-0) featured in the CWFC middleweight title tournament earlier this year, progressing to the semi-finals courtesy of a stunning first-round KO of Gareth Joseph at CWFC Fight Night 3: Lebanon in February.

The 24-year-old was eventually eliminated via a decision loss to Cheng. Hucin’s only other defeat in his last nine outings came at the hands of ex-UFC fighter Jordan Radev in November 2008.

Meanwhile, John Phillips will not feature at Cage Warriors 49 after recently sustaining a hand injury that will keep him out of action for the foreseeable future.

Phillips (16-5-0) had been pencilled in for a headline slot on the main card in his native Wales but will now take time out to recover.
