John Michael Sheil set to face Jack Mason at 170lbs on New Year’s Eve

An Anglo-Irish welterweight bout between John Michael Sheil and Jack Mason has been added to the main card for Cage Warriors 51.

The New Year’s Eve event, which takes place at The Helix in Dublin, will be CWFC’s second this year in the Irish capital following the outstanding success of Cage Warriors 47 back in June.

Headlined by the meeting of Conor McGregor and Ivan Buchinger for the vacant CWFC lightweight title, the Cage Warriors 51 main card will stream live on MMA Junkie following prelims on Facebook.

Sheil (8-1) will be fighting at welterweight for the first time since making the decision to move down from the 185lbs division.

The SBG Ireland member tasted defeat for the first time in his professional career in his last outing, suffering a decision loss to Faycal Hucin at Cage Warriors 49 in Cardiff last month.

The 27-year-old has recorded notable wins over the likes of top European middleweight Victor Cheng and two-time UFC veteran Ross Pointon.

Mason (21-11), who made the switch to welterweight earlier this year, will be fighting under the Cage Warriors banner for the seventh time in his career.

The 30-year-old English veteran, who has had six outings already this year, submitted Alexei Roberts on top UK promotion Shock ‘N’ Awe in October to clinch their welterweight title.

Tickets for Cage Warriors 51 will go on sale on Thursday, December 6, with more bouts still to be announced. Keep track of Cage Warriors on Facebook and Twitter for the latest news and updates.
