Conor McGregor looking to replace Joe Proctor against Al Iaquinta on 27th April

Update: John Kavanagh revealed tonight that the fight is completely off the cards

Conor McGregor (13-2) has revealed via his personal twitter that he is interested in moving up to 155lbs to replace Joe Proctor on 27th April (just over 2 weeks from now) in New Jersey against TUF lightweight finalist Al Iaquinta (5-2-1).

McGregor debuted in spectacular fasion for the UFC in Sweden last weekend, winning by 67 second knockout against Marcus Brimage, who was previously undefeated inside the octagon and is looking to get back in there as soon as possible.

“April 27th New Jersey!!! 155lbs versus a TUF finalist!!! WHO WANTS TO SEE IT?” and “@danawhite I WOULD LOVE TO TAKE THIS!!! Let me know”

We spoke to Conor’s coach John Kavanagh who simply told us “WE WANT IT!”

The UFC don’t usually approve of fighters jumping between weights, however Conor has previously held Cage Warriors titles in both the 145 and 155lb divisions and has stated his goal is become a two weight UFC champion.
