Fight Picks – Sean Sheehan vs Nick Strickland

seanvs

This special double event edition of “Sean Sheehan Vs” sees Sean taking on Nick Strickland in a battle of UFC Fight Night Berlin AND TUF Brazil 3 Finale fight picks.

Every UFC event Sean and his opponent will break down the reasoning behind their main card picks and will give quick picks for the undercard.

We start with the main event Mark Munoz vs. Gegard Mousasi..

Having lost to Lyoto Machida in their previous outing this is a chance for both men to get back towards title contention. Munoz is a decorated wrestler who has been lurking in the middle of the top 10 for a few years. Mousasi is a European striker who is still making the UFC his home following the strikeforce merger. I think Mousasi will be prepared for the wrestling of Munoz and he has the speed to avoid it. On the feet there will only be one winner.

Sheehan’s Pick –Mousasi via decision

He’s tough hungry and very dangerous. Machida loss woke a beast.

Nick’s Pick – Munoz Via TKO

Francis Carmont vs. C.B. Dollaway

In recent times CB Dolloway has changed his game from a lay and pray artist to a fighter who swings hard early. That plays right into the hands of Francis Carmont who is happy to rest in your guard for fifteen minutes. This will be one worth missing.

Sheehan’s Pick – Carmont via decision

Technically superior, too many tools compared to CB.

Nick’s Pick – Carmont via Submission

Luke Barnatt vs. Sean Strickland

Someone’s 0 has to go. At this weight and level of competition it’s hard to pick against Barnett because of his huge height and reach. We haven’t seen much of Strickland so far but he was impressive when dismantling Bubba McDaniel last time out. Wouldn’t surprise me if Sean won but…

Sheehan’s Pick – Barnett via decision.

Better striker, long reach and technique is far better.

Nick’s Pick – Barnatt via TKO

Fabio Maldonado vs. Stipe Miocic

This is a man who should be fighting at middleweight against a heavyweight contender.

Sheehan’s Pick – Miocic via knockout

He is on a streak and wants that big name fight, good chin and great boxing.

Nick’s Pick – Miocic via UD.

Demian Maia vs. Alexander Yakovlev

As happens so often in MMA, Demian Maia was hyped into something he wasn’t and got hauled down to earth with a bang. Two losses later and he’s rebuilding against newcomer Alexander Yakovlev who has lost three times in his career via submission.

Sheehan’s Pick – Maia via submission

BJJ God, has a statement to make.

Nick’s Pick – Maia via Submission

Rony Jason vs. Robert Peralta

This is nothing more than a fun fight. Both men swing hard on the feet, Jason has submissions for days. I think Peralta will look to take him down which will play right into the hands of the Brazilian.

Sheehan’s Pick – Jason via submission

Too dangerous, fast and aggressive.

Nick’s Pick – Jason via TKO

And for the Sean Sheehan bet of the week…

My bet of the week is Miocic v Maldonado to go under 2.5 rounds at 5/6. Put your house on it.
