3e’s delayed coverage of UFC 178: Conor McGregor VS Dustin Poirier proved a ratings hit last night, reaching an impressive 317,400 individuals and a share of approximately 7.7% of the available viewing population.

An average of 76,600 viewers tuned in to watch Conor ‘The Notorious’ McGregor put on another explosive display, in his first round TKO victory over Poirier in Vegas.

With an 8.11% share on 3e, the programme was strong for a number of audiences, including Adults 15-24 and Men 15-34, averaging a 17.45% share and 26.90% share respectively.

Monday Fight Nights will continue on 3e from next Monday (6th October) with all the action from UFC Fight Night Stockholm where Gunnar Nelson, who trains in Dublin, faces Rick ‘The Horror’ Story. 3e will broadcast the first in a series of special UFC Films Swedish Giants at 9.30pm, followed by all the action from the Ericsson Arena in Stockholm.

“Gunni”, who ranked #12, will be coming into this fight hot on the heels of one of the most memorable nights of his career when he submitted Zak Cummings in the second round of their co-main event bout at UFC Fight Night Dublin in July. His opponent Story, who ranked #15, is a lot more seasoned in the UFC ranks, winning 10 fights and losing six.

TV3 Group Head of Sport, Kieran Holden, said: “We are delighted to be able to broadcast premium UFC events to the Free-To-Air audience in Ireland. Conor McGregor has a massive following here and we are pleased to bring more of his fights to his growing fan base. Next up, 3e features another popular ‘Irish’ fighter Gunnar Nelson. Judging by the fans reaction at UFC Fight Night Dublin, the Icelander is arguably bigger here than in his native Iceland.”

Earlier in the month, 3e agreed delayed Free-To-Air broadcast rights in Ireland with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) for delayed access to all Pay-Per-View events from America and Europe. The two-year partnership will also see the 3e, part of the TV3 Group, broadcast the main cards from nine UFC events from Europe as well as weekly magazine shows, UFC Now and UFC Insider.
