BattleZone FC 13: Dargan vs Roche set for June 6th in Dublin

BattleZone Fighting Championships returns to the Regency Hotel on Saturday June 6 as two veterans of the Irish MMA scene meet in the event’s highly anticipated main event that will see heavyweight champion Johnny ‘The Dragon’ Dargan defend his title against Team Ryano stalwart Karl Roche.

The thirteenth BattleZone event will also see a number of other championship titles up for grabs. After winning the featherweight strap at BZFC 12 with a rear naked choke victory over Mick Brennan, Stephen Coll will look to make his first defence against dangerous Trials MMA proponent, Kieran O’Brien.

Limerick’s Sean Tobin will face off against Derry’s Gavin Kelly for the bantamweight title at the event too, in a bout that promises to be one to remember for the Dublin gathering on the night.

Some of Ireland’s most touted amateur prospects will make their professional debuts at the event as James Brennan meets unbeaten amateur champion Ayo Daly in a welterweight clash.

Rush Fighting Academy’s unbeaten amateur champion Thomas Hogan will also make the transition to pro on the night facing experienced campaigner Viktoras Kontrimas from Team Ryano at welterweight.

Former amateur BZFC featherweight champion Aaron Maguire drops down to bantamweight to meet exciting SBG fighter Frans Mlambo for his amateur title in another intriguing affair.

In a women’s flyweight clash, Stephanie Quaile will meet aggressive Mjolnir starlet Sunna Davidsdottir who dropped a decision to Kyuzo fighter Amanda English at EFN in September 2013.

Matchmakers are still on the lookout for a number of opponents for established Irish professionals John Redmond, Konrad Iwanowski and Myles Price as well as two amateur featherweights to compete for he promotion’s title.
