The UFC has announced that the long-awaited rematch between T.J. Dillashaw and Renan Barao will take place at UFC on Fox 16.

Dillashaw (11-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) dethroned the dominant Barao (33-2 MMA, 8-1 UFC) in a historic upset last May. The pair were booked to rematch at UFC 177 before “The Baron” was forced to withdraw at the last minute after collapsing in his hotel room while attempting to make weight.

The rematch was scheduled to take place again at UFC 186 on April 25, but this time it was Dillashaw that was forced out of the bout due to injury. Now, the UFC will be hoping the third time’s a charm and that both fighters can stay healthy ahead of the summer event.

Additional bouts announced for the same card include Anthony Pettis (18-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) vs. Myles Jury (15-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) and Miesha Tate (16-5 MMA, 3-2 UFC) vs. Jessica Eye (11-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC).

Pettis will be looking to get straight back into title contention after suffering a one-sided decision loss to current lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos last month. Meanwhile, Jury will aim to put his lacklustre performance and recent loss to Donald Cerrone behind him.

Tate will look to build from her recent gritty victory over Sara McMann, while Eye – the highest ranked fighter in the division who hasn’t lost to Ronda Rousey – will try to cement her position as a top contender among the female bantamweights.

UFC on Fox 16 is set to take place on Jul 25 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
