Nate Diaz vs Michael Johnson set for UFC on FOX 17

Nearly twelve months have passed since the explosive lightweight Nate Diaz has competed inside the Octagon, but the fighter’s hiatus is nearing its end. He has been added to the already impressive card at UFC on Fox 17 which takes place on 19th December.

Taking a spin in the cage against Michael Johnson, Diaz (17-10, 12-8 UFC) had initially been holding out from the UFC with the hope of a new contract, but when that didn’t happen he took a fight with Rafael dos Anjos late last year.

Despite his popularity amongst the MMA community, Diaz has been strangely silent across these few months; his single bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov at a recent WSOF event being the only thing to truly note.

Johnson (16-9, 8-5 UFC) on the other hand, had won four in a row before a bout with Beneil Dariush earlier this month, where he lost a very controversial decision. It appears that it wasn’t a major setback for him in the eyes of the UFC though as this will likely be a highly profiled match as we edge closer to December.

The main event of UFC on FOX 17 sees lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos defending his title against Donald Cerrone.
