No. 2 ranked UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov looks set to take on the No. 5 ranked UFC lightweight Tony Ferguson at UFC on FOX 19 on 16th April 2016 after Ferguson’s original opponent Michael Johnson was forced to withdraw from the bout due to undisclosed reasons.

MMAFighting first reported the story.

This is the second time the UFC have attempted to put this bout together, with it originally being scheduled for December 2015 before Khabib was forced to withdraw due to injury and was replaced by Edson Barboza.

Ferguson (20-3) submitted Barboza with a brabo choke in the 2nd round after an exciting back and forth battle.

Nurmagomedov (22-0) is undefeated and holds a dominant decision victory over the current UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos back in April 2014. However several injuries has meant that he hasn’t fought since that victory over dos Anjos at UFC on FOX 11.
