Former TUF 22 contestant Mehdi Baghdad has signed with the UFC and will step in with less than a week’s notice for Mairbek Taisumov who has been ruled out of his slated bout with Chris Wade at UFC Fight Night 81 in Boston this weekend with visa problems.

France’s Baghdad won a razor close decision over TUF 22 finalist Artem Lobov in the shows preliminary fights to get into the TUF house. Mehdi was knocked out of the competition after he and Julian Erosa fought to a close majority decision, with the judges giving Erosa the nod.

Baghdad has signed a 3 fight deal with the promotion.

The UFC Fight Night Boston headliner sees TJ Dillashaw attempt to defend his 135lb strap against Dominick Cruz, the former champion who never lost the belt in competition.
