Neil Seery will face the toughest opponent of his storied career on May 8 in Rotterdam when he meets former flyweight championship contender, Kyoji Horiguchi.

Seery has clocked up a very respectable record of 3-2 since making his short notice Octagon debut at UFC London against Brad Pickett. The 36-year-old’s last win came in his last outing in Dublin back in October when he submitted Jon delos Reyes in the second round of their bout in front of his adoring hometown support.

The former Cage Warriors champion has proven a hard man to match in the striking department, and has gained international acclaim as one of the best boxers in his division.

The karate style of Japanese star Horiguchi will be an interesting puzzle for the Dubliner to solve. Leaping in and out of his attacks with fantastic explosivity, Horiguchi prefers to ply his trade on the feet too, which will be music to the Team Ryano man’s ears.

Currently holding the sixth spot in the UFC’s flyweight rankings, Horiguchi has gone 5-1 under the UFC banner with his only loss coming against flyweight champion and pound for pound great, Demetrious Johnson.

Bouncing back from that loss with a win over Chico Camus it Saitama, Japan in September, Horiguchi will be doing his best to align himself with another title fight when he meets Seery in Holland.
