American Top Team’s Mirsad Bektic is adamant UFC featherweight gold will be around his waist line in the not so distant future, and believes Hacran Dias is the fight to start that push in 2016.

Bosnian born Bektic joined Niall and Petesy on this last week’s Talking Brawls on SevereMMA.com to discuss a number of issues.

Bektic was forced to pull out of a schedule bout against Tatsuya Kawajiri last December, due to an ACL tear. The unbeaten 145er has kept a close eye on the featherweight division while recovering from the injury, and believes it’s there for the taking.

“Honestly… sitting back and watching these guys fight; watching the newcomers, watching the guys that have been around a while. I feel like the division is cleaning itself out, it’s kind of like a recycling bin. I mean, pretty much the only tough guys are the top four guys; Aldo, McGregor, Frankie and Chad, but Chad got his whole PED thing going on. So, I feel like the division is there for the taking, and I plan on taking it.”

The 10-0 featherweight hasn’t fought since defeating Lucas Martin via TKO in Goainia, Brazil, 13 months ago. He’s planning on an Octagon return sometime in October and thinks Hacran Dias would be a perfect opponent for his return to the Octagon.

“I visualize beating all of them. I have visions on being number one; that’s what pretty much drives me when I’m training. I think about Aldo, I think about McGregor and you never know what can happen. I think about those guys a lot but as far as coming back, Hacran Dias, I like that fight”

Hacran Dias has no fight lined up so Bektic may well be granted his wish. The featherweight says October would be an ideal time for a return to competitive action, and it’s a match- up Sean Shelby may well be considering. Bektic is ranked #14, and Dias #10.
