Chael Sonnen vs. Tito Ortiz set for Bellator 170

Former UFC stars will meet after the turn of the year following the announcement on Sports Center today that Chael Sonnen will take on Tito Ortiz at Bellator 170.

A former UFC light-heavyweight champion, this will be Ortiz’s first fight since losing to Liam McGeary for the Bellator title in September of last year.

For Sonnen, a former UFC middleweight and light-heavyweight title challenger, this will be his first fight in the Bellator cage having parted ways with the UFC at the end of a long ban for performance enhancing drug use just a few weeks ago.

As it fight it should be a relatively even match-up while as a spectacle it’s one of the biggest possible outside of the UFC today.

Bellator 170 takes place at the Forum in Los Angeles on January 21st.
