Cage Warriors 84: Kovacevic vs Wood – Live Coverage

Cage Warriors 84 is coming live from London’s O2 Indigo tonight, where Marko Kovacevic faces London’s own Nathaniel Wood for the bantamweight title.

Main Card:

Nathaniel Wood vs. Marko Kovacevic – Bantamweight Title

Rd 1: Some back and forth striking between these two, before Wood took control of the fight as it drew out longer. Impressive left-hand strike that rocked Kovacevic before Wood sent him further down to the canvas with the crowd going wild.

Nathaniel Wood wins via knockout with strikes @ 3:41 of round 1, becoming CW’s new Bantamweight champion.

Norman Paraisy vs. Kenneth Bergh – Light-Heavyweight

R1: Bergh dominant, landing a spinning back-fist and a number of other successful strikes. One sided affair, Paraisy looked tired towards the end.

R2: More of the same from Bergh, fight get’s taken to the ground, where Bergh quickly finishes Paraisy, who’s never really looked in this, via guillotine choke.

Kenneth Bergh defeats Norman Paraisy via guillotine choke in the 2nd round. 

Matt Inman vs. Brad Wheeler – Welterweight
R1: Inman came out strong and was very dominant in the opening round. Successful on the ground and with his striking. Could be a 10-8.

R2: Another very dominant round for Inman, Wheeler struggling to really find success with anything here.

R3: Better round for Wheeler, although not enough to secure the victory. Wheeler attempted to pull of a heel-hook, however Inman comfortably escaped.

Matt Inman defeats Brad Wheeler wins via UD (30-25, 30-25, 30-26)

 

Tom Green vs. Alexander Jacobsen – Lightweight
R1: Very back and forth battle between these two, Jacobsen getting more of the striking, however Green has been succesful with some of his groundwork.

R2: Big round for Jacobsen, controlled the ground game for the majority of the round and looked to cause Green a number of problems landing heavy strikes, Green looked nearly finished at one point but recovered. Green needing a finish going into the final round.

R3: Jacobsen looked to have been tagged by Green, decided to ride to fight out on the ground, although green nearly worked a submission off the back, however Jacobsen escaped to force a judges decision.

Alexander Jacobsen defeated Tom Green via UD (30-27, 30-26, 30-26)

Hakon Foss vs. Craig White – Welterweight
R1: White opened up with a number of successful heavy strikes to Norwegian Foss’s head. Foss attempted a takedown however White managed to execute a guillotine choke at 1:18 of the 1st round.

Prelim Card:

Steve O’Keefe defeated Sean Carter via Heel Hook in 1st round 

Robertson defeated Wells via Unanimous Decision

James Webb vs Mirko Jurkovic – Middleweight
R1: Very back and forth opening round, Webb just about edging it to take the round, a really entertaining striking match so far.
R2: Action continues and again it’s a very back and forth striking battle between the pair.
R3: More of the same from these two, fight goes the distance, judges score the contest (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) in favor of Jurkovic.

Jurkovic defeated Webb via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Iurie Bejenari vs Sam Creasey – Flyweight
R1: Both competitors where standing and trading for the large majority of the round, Creasey countered a Bejenari take-down attempt with one of his own, before shortly finishing the fight via rear-naked choke.

Creasey defeated Bejenari via RNC in the 1st round

Bryan Creighton vs Darren O’Gorman – Bantamweight 
R1: Creighton took O’Gorman to the ground early on, controlling the bout. Marc Goddard stood the fight up after around 2.5 mins of limited action on the floor, Creighton connected with a overhand strike that wobbled O’Gorman, but he recovered before being taken to the ground again. Limited action in the opening round here but a very dominant round for Creighton.

R2: Some back and forth striking between the two opened the round, before O’Gorman took Creighton to the ground and quickly finished the fight via rear-naked choke at 2:38 of the round.

O’Gorman defeated Creighton via RNC @ 2:38 of the 2nd round
