MMA Cork’s John Mitchell and Jack Maguire Added to Cage Warriors Birmingham

Irish MMA is booming at the moment with this week’s announcement of UFC Dublin, and Bellator Dublin to look forward to in the 3Arena next weekend. The news doesn’t end there though, as MMA Cork’s John Mitchell and Jack Maguire have both been added to the Cage Warriors 114 event, which is set to take place in Birmingham on Saturday 18th April.

John Mitchell (1-0) is coming off the back of an impressive decision victory over a tough and talented Eric Nolan on Cage Warriors return show to Ireland in Cork back in November. A former five-time amateur MMA champion across three promotions (Cage Legacy, Akuma, and Celtic Gladiator), Mitchell will face MMA debutant Nathan Epps. Epps (0-0) has an experienced K1/Muay Thai background that should lead to an exciting contest for the Birmingham crowd in attendance.

A former no. 1 ranked amateur in Ireland & the UK (as was Mitchell), Jack Maguire (0-1) will also make his second walk to the Cage Warriors cage as a pro fighter on the Birmingham card. Maguire will be searching for his first win since turning pro, after dropping a decision to Manny Akpan in his debut in the Neptune Arena. Richard “Judo” Kallos (2-1) is the opponent this time around, and with Kallos securing back-to-back first round submissions last year it’s clear that Ian Dean and the Cage Warriors team aren’t here to provide any easy match-ups. Like Epps vs Mitchell, this should be a solid competitive contest.
