Jon Jones Arrested for Aggravated DWI

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones was arrested by Albuquerque Police at approximately 1am on Thursday morning. As was first reported by KOAT, Jones was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, negligent use of a firearm, and possession of an open container.

Officers reportedly arrived on the scene shortly after 1am as a result of complaints regarding shots fired. Jones was inside his vehicle, and the car was running, but the UFC star denied having any knowledge of shots fired.

Further reporting by MMAFighting, which obtained the below arrest records revealed that Jones had also been charged with not having any proof of insurance in the vehicle

According to the report by KOAT, the officers on the scene noted that Jones showed signs of intoxication, and Jones admitted that he had been driving earlier and was intending to drive again. Jones cooperated and consented to a sobriety test, but he performed poorly on it. When given a breathalyzer test, Jones tested at least two times the legal limit. After his arrest, police found a black handgun under the driver’s seat and a half-empty 750ml bottle of Recuerdo (Jorge Masvidal’s Mezcal brand) behind the passenger seat.

According to MMAFighting, Jones has since been released from custody.
