UFC 249 set for Jacksonville, Florida

Earlier this week news broke that the UFC were planning on holding an event in Florida. At the time no venue had been announced for the event. There had been no official fight announcements at that time but all of that changes today. 

Dana White broke the news to ESPN today and announced that UFC 249 is set to take place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena Jacksonville, Florida. It will be the first of three planned UFC events to be held at the arena in the space of a week.

The main event for UFC 249 is an interim lightweight title bout between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje. 

There is more title action planned for the co-main event of the card when Henry Cejudo defends his bantamweight title against former champ Dominick Cruz. 

UFC announed a host of other fights were also announced for the May 9th card.

Also on the card will be a middleweight bout between Uriah Hall and Jacare Souza. A mouthwatering welterweight bout will happen on the prelims when Vicente Luque takes on Niko Price.


The UFC president also hinted at 2 more events that will be held in Florida on May 13 and May 16th. Keep an eye out on SevereMMA.com for further updates.
