Bellator 256: Bader vs. Machida 2 Results

The light heavyweight Grand Prix got underway Friday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Lyoto Machida and Ryan Bader competed in the main event. Liz Carmouche welcomed Vanessa Porto into Bellator in the nights co-main event.

Ryan Bader avenged the first knockout of his career when he overcame Lyoto Machida by unanimous decision. Bader will progress to the semi-finals of the light heavyweight grand prix to take on either Cory Anderson or Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov.

Machida started the fight very well and took the fight round of the fight. The Brazilian started to fade in the second round as Bader started to slowly take over. It was Ryan Bader’s use of the takedown, and the fact that he was able to do big damage to Machida while on the mat is what won him the fight.
