Pa Lehane vs. Gabriel Morales booked for Combate Global event on April 29th

Pa Lehane (4-1) will make the trip to Miami once again in 2022 as he takes on Gabriel Morales (3-2) at an upcoming Combate Global event which is set to take place on April 29th. The fight is set to take place in the featherweight division.

Lehane will move down to the 145-pound division for the first time in his professional career. He spoke to SevereMMA about the move down , what he wants to achieve in 2022 inside the Combate Global cage and his upcoming fight with Morlaes

“I’ll be dropping down to the featherweight division for the first time in my pro career, I was unbeaten at amateur at this weight class, I want to keep gaining notice and building my fan base by putting on exciting fights for the fans.”

The SevereMMA Emerging Irish Prospect of The Year burst onto the scene in August of last year when he won the 4-man, one-night tournament. The SBG Cork man fought on two occasions on the night, he picked up a decision win over Sebas Santana Guedes and went on to knockout French lightweight Maxime Giacalone in the first round.

“The Leech” returned to the Combate Cage the following month to take on Isaac Ruelas in what was a fight for the ages. The contest was labeled as one of the best fights in Combate Global history. Both Lehane and his Mexican adversary fought toe-to-toe for three rounds with the Cork man picking up the win on the judges’ scorecards.

The 22-year old picked up the nickname “La Sanguijuela” when stepped in at just six-days notice to represent Team Mexico in the one-night “Mexico vs. USA” tournament. Lehane got the nod on the scorecards when he defeated Hugo Flores in the quarter-finals. His luck ran out in the semi-finals when Lehane came up short on the judges’ cards in his encounter with Cristian Perez.

The Corkonian will step back into the Combate Global cage on April 29th when he squares off against Venezuelan born, Gabriel Morales, who now fights out of Deerfield Beach, Florida. Lehane is confident of a big performance

“I see myself getting a stoppage for sure, Lehane said. This will be the first fight I’ve ever actually put in a full camp. In the past, I’ve only ever put in 10% of my potential effort but I’ve had time to reflect on myself over the past couple months. I’ve decided if I’m going to do this, I can’t keep treating it like I’m an amateur, this is my job and I want to be the very best I can be. No more slacking off. I’m here to become a world champion and set my whole family up for a better life”

The SBG Cork man is very happy with his current situation in Combate Global, one of the fastest growing MMA organizations in the Americas. “The Leech” has his eyes firmly set of a title shot within the promotion and if we have only seen 10% of his potential so far, fans are in for a treat when they see Lehane back in the cage in Spring 2022.

“I think I’m in a great position right now I’m fighting for a company that really like me and my style of fighting, I have great relationships with everyone at the company and of course the money is great. I really feel at home inside Combate.”

“I think I will get a title shot this year if I keep my momentum from 2021 going. I am moving down to the featherweight division, so I will probably have to get a few wins in that division to assert myself first, then go from there.”

Pa Lehane takes on Gabriel Morales in a featherweight showdown on Combate Global which is set to take place in Miami, Florida on April 29th.
