BREAKING: Paul Hughes out of Cage Warriors 134

Cage Warriors Interim Featherweight Champion Paul Hughes is out of his upcoming bout with undisputed champion Jordan Vucenic. The details as to why Hughes has had to remove himself from the bout are reported to be a neck injury.

Hughes and Vucenic were set to unify the Cage Warriors 145lb title in London 18th March at the O2 Indigo. The bout came together as a summation of what has been a fascinating trifecta of fights between Hughes, Vucenic and French star Morgan Charriere.

The Frenchman originally won the title from Perry Goodwin at Cage Warriors 119, a title eliminator between Hughes and Vucenic took place on that card, with Vucenic winning a closely contested split decision. Cage Warriors 122 saw the Englishman dethrone Charriere in another closely contested split decision.

Hughes rebounded from his loss to Vucenic with wins over rising prospect James Hendin, which in turn setup the Interim title fight with Morgan Charriere himself at Cage Warriors 128. Hughes was victorious via split decision in front of a raucous York Hall.

The rematch, for all the marbles was shaping up to be a blockbuster headliner for the promotion, and the men themselves.

Cage Warriors have confirmed that James Hendin will now fight Jordan Vucenic for this title.
