ONE Championship: ONE X Results

ONE Championship put on a show to remember as the promotion celebrated their 10-year Anniversary in Singapore on Saturday, March 26th.

In a special mixed rules Mixed Martial arts GOAT, Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson took on Muay Thai legend Rodtang Jitmuangnon. Rounds one and three were scheduled under the Muay Thai ruleselt, rounds two and four were set up for the MMA ruleset. Johnson held his own in round one, in round two he got the standup specialist to the mat and secured a rear-naked choke which put his rival to sleep.

The Brazilian champion and his Japanese rival fought a cat and mouse type fight in the early stages with the champion taking a slight advantage in some of the early exchanges on the feet and on the mat. The referee dished out a yellow card apiece for stalling, wrongfully in a lot of people’s eyes, at the start of round three which forced Wakamatsu to force the action. Whist initiating the grappling the “Little Piranha” found himself in a guillotine choke and Moreas forced the tap to successfully defend his title.

Yoshihiro “Sexyama” Akiyama and Shinya Aoki produced a stunning fight in a fight between two rivals that was many years in the making. Aoki had the better start in round one, securing the takedown and back mount for almost all of the round. Akiyama stormed back in round two and the 46-year old legend stuffed the takedown attempts went on to land a knee to the face, followed up with punches and force the ref to step in a call a halt toe the action.

John Wayne Parr was vying for his 100 career wins in a Muay Thai contest. Eduard Folayang play party pooper as he got the better start of the two, Parr rallied late, landing a knee which wobbled his adversary but could not secure the finish. The judges reward a unanimous decision to Folayang. John Wayne Parr had said he was set to retire after this fight left his gloves inside the cage before he left.

The opening bout of the main card was for the kickboxing title as Thai sensation Superbon Singha Mawynn faced off with Marat Grigorian over five round. Both had clashed in the past with Grigorian coming out on top of that bout with a knockout win. Superbon made sure that didn’t happen this time around as he dominated over the course of the fight and went on to pick up a one-sided decision victory.

Catch the official results of all three sections of the card which had a total of 20 fight in what was ONE Championship’s greatest card that they have ever put on.
