Andy Young vs. Scott Malone set for Cage Warriors Belfast

Andy Young (11-13) will return to the cage for the first time since 2019 when he faces Scott Malone (8-5) in a flyweight bout at Cage Warriors Belfast on June 25.

Young’s pro career dates back to 2011 and despite his mixed record, he has shared the cage with some high-level opposition, holding wins over current Cage Warriors Bantamweight Champions Dominique Wooding and Flyweight contender Aaron Aby. “Taz” has yet to pick up a win since 2017, however, the Next Generation NI standout is always in entertaining fights. His most recent outing was a losing effort against Cage Warriors Flyweight Champion Sam Creasey. Young has recently become a promoter too with Fit2Fight holding their first event on April 9.

Young was originally supposed to fight Malone in his return to the cage at Cage Conflict 4, but the fight fell through.

In the time since Young last fought, Malone has fought on seven occasions including challenging Jack Shore for the Cage Warriors Bantamweight title back in 2019. After an unsuccessful title challenge and two more losses, Malone bounced back by winning three on the bounce.

Wins over Kieran O’Brien and Kiru Singh Sahota saw him return to Cage Warriors in June of 2021, where he defeated Serdar Altas at Cage Warriors 125. He made the official move to the flyweight division at Cage Warriors 129, losing a close decision to Italy’s Dylan Hazan.

The event, which is set to take place in the SSE Arena, Belfast, already has two bouts announced. Rhys McKee takes on Justin Burlinson for the Welterweight belt and Jordan O’Neill will make his pro debut against FAI’s Paddy McCorry.
