ONE Championship First Event on US Soil to be Headlined By Moraes vs. Johnson III

ONE Championship’s venture into North America has long been an aim for Asia’s largest combat sports promotion, and 2023 will finally be the year they touch down on western soil.

The organization announced this week that on Friday, 5th May, it will bring ONE On Prime Video 10 to the 1stBank Center in Bloomfield, Colorado – its first US show.

The historic spectacle will be headlined by arguably the biggest fight the ONE Circle has ever seen, as ONE Flyweight World Champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson will put his gold on the line against former divisional king Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes in an intense trilogy bout.

The history between the pair goes back to ONE On TNT I in April 2021. Moraes was the flyweight World Champion back then, and he took on the challenge of Johnson – long thought to be the MMA GOAT.

The Brazilian shocked the world on this occasion by not only defeating Johnson but becoming the first man to finish the American star in his illustrious 35-fight career.

Moraes stunned “Mighty Mouse” on the feet before finishing the battle with a grounded knee, ending the Washington native’s chances of winning the World Title.

The defeat burned inside “Mighty Mouse,” and he finally got a shot at redemption this past summer at ONE on Prime Video 1.

After suffering defeat via a blistering knee the first time around, Johnson responded in poetic fashion in the rematch, returning the favor with a knee of his own to shut off the Brazilian’s lights and claim the coveted divisional crown.

The viral finish left the combat sports world in awe and was a welcome addition to the iporessive library of devastating finishes the MMA icon has amassed in his career.

With the scores now tied at one apiece, the rivalry will be settled at ONE’s inaugural voyage to America. The outstanding flyweight scrappers sit right at the top of the stacked division, and they will finally get the chance to score all the marbles in their intense trilogy showdown in May 2023.
