Leah “The Curse” McCourt (7-2) is set for a huge matchup against Women’s MMA pioneer and former UFC title contender “Alpha” Cat Zingano (13-4).

The pair of ranked featherweights will collide on Friday 31st March at Bellator 293 in Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California. Nolan King of MMA Junkie first reported that Bellator had applied for license to host the event. The promotion announced the matchup on Monday afternoon.

#4-ranked McCourt returned to the win column in September, besting Dayana Silva over three rounds to earn a Unanimous Decision at Bellator 285 in Dublin. The 30-year-old Belfast fighter is 6-1 under the Bellator promotional banner.

#1-ranked Zingano is undefeated inside the Bellator cage, since signing with the promotion at the end of 2019. The 40-year-old American notched wins over Gabrielle Holloway and Olivia Parker, before most recently defeating Pam Sorensen last June at Bellator 282.

With featherweight champion Cris Cyborg currently not scheduled to fight, Zingano and McCourt have a strong chance to stake their respective claims on the next title shot.
