ONE Fight Night 15 Preview

Following a magnificent end to September after ONE Fight Night 14 last weekend, ONE Championship is back on Saturday, 7th October, with another action-packed card topped with a Title double feature.

ONE Fight Night 15: Le vs. Freymanov goes down live from Bangkok, Thailand’s legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, and it promises to be a barnburner.

The evening’s main event will see former ONE Featherweight MMA Champion and #1-ranked contender Thanh Le locking horns with #3-ranked Ilya Freymanov for the stacked division’s interim Title.

The interim belt was introduced due to reigning featherweight kingpin Tang Kai’s ongoing knee injuries. The Chinese phenom was set to make his first defence of the crown against Le this past July at ONE Fight Night 12, but he pulled out to focus on recovery.

In his absence, it was announced that Le and Freymanov would decide who deserves a shot at unifying the weight bracket’s top prize against Tang upon his return.

Le is hungry to reclaim the top spot, having lost the Title to Tang in August 2022. And the Vietnamese-American star’s five knockouts in as many fights shows he has the tools to do so.

Not only will he get to hold gold again with a win at ONE Fight Night 15, but he’ll be able to say that he took out a genuine threat if he manages to overcome Freymanov.

The Russian powerhouse represents a new era of combatants riding a meteoric wave of momentum, and his two first-round wins in ONE so far make him undeniably deserving of a shot at the interim crown.

Freymanov dispatched former two-weight ONE World Champion Martin Nguyen with heavy strikes in his debut last October, and he followed that up by submitting Mongolian star Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg this past July at ONE Fight Night 11 to truly showcase his vast arsenal of weapons.

This main event clash is unlikely to go the distance, so fans would be wise not to blink when it goes down this Saturday.
In the co-main event, ONE Strawweight Kickboxing Champion Jonathan Di Bella will make his first defence of the crown against ONE fan-favourite Danial Williams.

Di Bella earned the vacant crown by overcoming Zhang Peimian in October 2022 at ONE 162. The Canadian-Italian star thwarted the Chinese phenom over the course of five rounds to pick up the unanimous decision victory and keep his unbeaten run alive.

The world took notice when Di Bella bested Peimian, but coming out on top in his next challenge will truly cement his status as king.

Williams has shown his grit time and again across three different disciplines in the world’s largest martial arts organization.

He has fought the best of the best, stepping in against ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Superlek Kiatmoo9, ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon, and promotional mainstay Jeremy Miado in MMA.

“Mini T” has made it clear that he’s willing to fight anyone, any time, at any weight. And now that he’s back in his rightful home at strawweight, his striking repertoire could offer a serious threat to Di Bella when they square off at ONE Fight Night 15.
