Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Finale finally set (with Video)

The long awaited conclusion to the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix is in sight. Zuffa have announced that the finale, Josh Barnett vs Daniel Cormier will take place on the 19th May and will air live on Showtime in the US and on PPV on PremierSports in the UK and Ireland.

The tournament started over a year ago, before Zuffa purchased the company. Many fans were hoping and expecting to see Fedor Emelianenko vs Alistair Overeem but when Antonio ‘Big Foot’ Silva beat Fedor everything changed. Scott Coker even hinted at possible ways to get Fedor back into the tournament, including as an injury replacement but it wasn’t to be.

Zuffa have since disbanded their Strikeforce Heavyweight division, and signed the top prospects to the UFC including Alistair Overeem, Werdum, Antonio ‘Big Foot’ Silva and Lavar Johnson.
