Bellator 269 Results

Heavyweight veteran, and one of the best fighters ever to compete, Fedor Emelianenko went up against Tim Johnson in the Bellator 269 main event which took place VTB Arena in Moscow, Russia. Vitaly Minakov and Said Sowma clashed in another heavyweight encounter which served as the co-main event. Wexford’s own Brian Moore looked to make it four wins in a row as he faced Nikita Mikhailov in the bantamweight division.

Aiden Lee got the card off to a flyer as he overcame Aleksandr Osetrov by first round submission. The Birmingham based featherweight drop his Russian rival with a right straight before jumping on the neck and forcing the tap. A solid win for Lee over a tough opponent. Alexey Shurkevich defeated Grachik Bozinyan by TKO after hurting his opponent in the early stages of round one and going on to pick up the victory. Shurkevich made his Bellator debut and picked uo his sixth win on the bounce.

SBG bantamweight Brian Moore just fell short when he squared off with rising prospect Nikita Mikhailov on the undercard. The Russian secured takedowns in rounds one and two and landed some nasty elbows which opened a cut over the eye of Moore. The Wexford man needed a finish in round three and almost secured submission, Moore was on the back of Mikhailov for the majority of round three. Towards the end of the fight Moore jumped for an armbar which has his Russian rival under serious pressure but ultimately ran out of time.

Irina Alekseeva and Stephanie Ielรถ Page went to war at a catchweight of 130 pounds. It was Alekseeva who would eventually pick up the decision in her own backyard.

“Baby Fedor” Kirill Sidelnikov put away Scotland’s Rab Truesdale inside one round. The Russian heavyweight landed a flurry of punches and followed up with ground and pound which force the ref to step in and call and halt to the action.

Anatoly Tokov and Sharaf Davlatmurodov opened up the main card in the middleweight division. In what was a close fought encounter, Tokov did enough to take home the split decision.

Usman Nurmagomedov moved to 14-0 and remains undefeated. The cousin of Khabib, who was in his corner, dominated Patrik Pietilรค and got rear-naked choke submission in the very first round.

Vitaly Minakov started very well in his heavyweight bout with Said Sowma. Unfortunately Minakov suffered a broken finger and that injury stopped him from going on and the fight was called a TKO win for Sowma. I bet we will see a rematch.

One of the greatest fighters in all of Mixed Martials Arts rounded off his career with a fantastic knockout. Fedor Emelianenko rolled back the years in his retirement fight with a swift three-punch combination which put Tim Johnson unconscious.
