Gunnar Nelson to face Jorge Santiago following injury to Justin Edwards

The UFC announced moments ago via their UFC UK Twitter account that Gunnar Nelson‘s opponent Justin Edwards has been forced to withdraw from UFC on Fuel in London.

Replacing “Fast Eddie” on 16th February is Jorge ‘The Sandman’ Santiago, who is 25-10 in his professional career, having beat top names like Siyar Bahadurzada and Jeremy Horn.

The tweet reads as follows..

“Due to injury @FastEddyMMA is out of #UFCLondon2013, @GunniNelson will now face @SantiagoMMA at Wembley Arena on 16th Feb!” – @UFC_UK

We caught up with Gunnar’s head coach John Kavanagh to get his thoughts on now facing the experienced former Sengoku middleweight champion Jorge Santiago

“He’s a very good and experienced opponent. Looking forward to the test”

A change in opponent is nothing new to Gunnar ‘Gunni’ Nelson (10-0-1) who had a number of late replacement fighters come in and fall out before his UFC debut last year in Nottingham, which is won by RNC in the first round.
