Jon Jones retains belt, chokes out Lyoto Machida

UFC 140 delivered top notch fights and brutal finishes. Jon Jones choked out (standing guillotine choke) Machida in the 2nd round after losing the first 10-9 due to Machida’s superior striking. The momentum shifted Jones’ way at the start of the 2nd round when he secured half mount from a takedown. Jones landed several elbows, opening a big cut on Machida’s forehead.

In the co-main event Frank Mir survived an early onslaught from ‘Big Nog’ to earn a vicious first round kimura victory. Rodrigo Nogueira stayed down for several minutes afterward as doctors saw to his shoulder.
