Wayne ‘Mayhem’ Murrie signs with Cage Contender

Cage Contender have signed 15-4 top welterweight prospect Wayne ‘Mayhem’ Murrie. Murrie has fought some of the top guys in Europe, including 2-0 UFC fighter John Maguire, Peter Irving and Ali Arish.

We spoke to Cage Contender owner John Ferguson about the latest addition to the ever growing Cage Contender roster and asked him about possible opponents for ‘Mayhem’

“We haven’t decided yet who he will face or which show he will first fight on, I suppose fans will look at Wayne as a possible title contender at welterweight”

“His caliber speaks for itself, he has only ever lost to top rated opposition. This guy has gone to a split decision with UFC fighter John Maguire and his record speaks for itself”

This signing is quiet the coup for Cage Contender, with many top promotions rumoured to be interested in signing Murrie.

“Again im just happy to bring this caliber of fighter to mix it up with the best we have to offer here in Ireland”

Out of his 15 wins, he has only been to a decision twice and has submitted 9 of his opponents.

“One things for sure, he has never been in a boring fight!”

Ferguson also announced via Twitter that Wayne’s deal with Cage Contender is for 3 fights

“Cage Contender would like to welcome Wayne “Mayhem” Murrie to the promotion on a 3 fight contract!!”
