What are the chances of Mayweather taking on McGregor again?

If you have been an avid MMA fan, we know that you had watched every bit of the Mayweather and McGregor fight with bated breath. Heck, you would have probably bought a ticket to the event if you lived nearby!

It’s rare that an MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighter takes on a professional boxer in a match of professional boxing. However, that’s exactly what happens in the match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. McGregor was trained in MMA and didn’t grow up with a career in boxing.

But that didn’t discourage him from taking on Mayweather even though critics and experts were all calling it a farce. It’s true that you cannot become a professional boxer in a few months, but McGregor did put up a strong fight.

He lasted for ten whole rounds before the referee proceeded with his judgment. Mayweather won the match, but there were moments when the tables could have been overturned. The two fighters had a completely different set of skills, and the match could have other outcomes.

Now, if rumours are to be believed, there will be a rematch between McGregor and Mayweather for the final time. Mayweather will be coming out of his retirement to take on his MMA opponent not in a match of boxing, but in the Octagon!

Will Mayweather come out of Retirement?

Mayweather had a great career and retired with a record of 50 wins without any losses. Some would believe it would be really foolish to come out of retirement with such a good record. He will also be challenging his opponent in an MMA fight, where he has no experience.

One incentive can be the monetary gain the match would bring. According to reports, the total amount that went to Mayweather for the last fight could amount to $100 million. That is surely a big amount and can make one do things! Coming out of retirement may very well be Mayweather’s decision if he receives such amount once again.

What are the chances of a Rematch?

There’s quite a hype about the rematch, and some incidents seem to increase its probability. McGregor, in a recent interview, called upon Mayweather and expressed his dissatisfaction at his retirement. He found the fact sickening that he cannot take his revenge because Mayweather is retired. Now that’s a strong call to leave unheeded!

On the other hand, Mayweather posted his videos of entering MMA Octagon which makes one think the rematch will be feasible. But if rumours are to be believed, Mayweather has already declined any negotiations for the rematch. He might be saving his retirement record or simply not at all interested in giving McGregor the chance to have his revenge.

We have to wait and see what happens in the future; though we do know that the fans would really love a rematch. Mayweather will have to train comprehensively if he has to enter the MMA Octagon because it will be McGregor’s turf to play on!
