SBG Charlestown fighter Ryan Curtis (5-2) looks set for a return to the cage when he takes on Sweden’s Serdar Altas (4-1) in a flyweight bout at Superior Challenge 21 on Saturday 28th November in Sweden.

The Swedish promotion announced the matchup earlier today on social media, and SevereMMA confirmed the contest with Curtis’ management.

Curtis was previously scheduled to take on Bryan Creighton at Probellum 2 in September, however, the event was cancelled by Liverpool City Council in line with COVID-19 regulations, according to the promotion.

The Dubliner will join fellow Irishman and Team KF fighter/coach Chris Fields, who takes on Karl Albrektsson for the Superior Challenge Light Heavyweight title on the same card, which will serve as the co-main event.

Curtis last fought under the Brave CF promotional banner in November 2019, when he lost via 1st-round submission to now-debuted UFC fighter Amir Albazi. Prior to his appearance at Brave CF 29, “Chaos” competed on BAMMA and Bellator shows, his most notable performance coming against Luis Gonzalez, whom Curtis impressively knocked out with a devastating knee in round 1.

Serdar Altas presents a formidable challenge and a solid next step in competition for Curtis. Altas had a successful 11-3 amateur career, claiming IMMAF All Africa, European, and World Championship titles at flyweight. Owen Roddy and the SBG Charlestown coaching staff will recognise Altas as a familiar foe, having previously bested famed photographer/SeverMMA alumnus/Curtis’ teammate “Yogurty” David Fogarty in the IMMAF European Championship final back in 2016. Since turning pro, Altas has lost just once, but Curtis will be the toughest test he has faced since that loss. This looks set to be an entertaining affair between two dynamic and experienced flyweights.
