A new lightweight king would be crowned in Houston, Texas on Saturday night as Charles Oliveira (30-8) and Mike Chandler (22-5) locked horns to decide who will be the next 155-pound champion. Another lightweight tussle took place in the co-main event, Tony Ferguson (25-5) and Beneil Dariush (20-4-1) will go toe-to-toe in that encounter.
Christos Giagos got the night started with a finish. Giagos jumped on a D’Arce choke at the start of round two to pick up the win against Sean Soriano in the lightweight division.
UFC newcomer Tucker Lutz went all three rounds with Kevin Aguilar in the featherweight division. Lutz came out of the fight the winner after taking home a unanimous decision on the scorecards.
Priscila Cachoeira had a fantastic come from behind victory over Gina Mazany in their flyweight encounter. The Brazilian picked up a second round TKO, and it was her second win inside the octagon.
Andrea Lee has lost her last three bouts coming into this fight with Antonina Shevchenko. Lee put on a fantastic display and bullied her way to a second round submission.
Jordan Wright wasted no time in his impressive victory over Jamie Pickett in the middleweight division. Wright landed huge elbows which rocked Pickett and went on to finish the fight in the early stages of round one.
Lando Vannata and Mike Grundy fought all three round in their lightweight fight. Vannata fended off multiple takedown attempts from Grundy enroute to a split decision victory on the scorecards.
Andre Muniz picked up a sensational submission over BJJ legend Ronaldo Souza. Muniz locked on an armbar and quickly broke the are of Jacare forcing the ref to stop the fight in the first round. We wish Jacare a speedy recovery.
Edson Barboza and Shane Burgos opened up the main card with a phenomenal fight. Barboza moved to 3-0 inside the featherweight division when he secured knockout victory in the third round.
Rogerio Bontorin took this fight with Matt Schnell on short notice and came into this fight slightly over the 135 lbs weight limit. Bontorin put all those worries behind him and picked up a comfortable win on the judges scorecards.
Beneil Dariush dominate Tony Ferguson for all three rounds to move himself right into the title picture. Dariush caught Ferguson in a heel hook midway through the fight but Ferguson refused to tap. There was visible damage to the leg of Ferguson as he held on, Dariush went on to win the decision.
The main event was a sensational fight between Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler. Both fighters were hurt and the first round was and over and back entertaining affair. Oliveira rallied after getting hurt on the feet in round one. The Brazilian came on guns-a-blazing in round two and clipped Chandler with a sweet left hook and went on to finish the fight in what was a fantastic performance.
