Amateur standout Lee Hammond is the latest Irish prospect to make the jump to pro. According to the promotion and first reported by Andy Stevenson, Hammond will make his pro debut on the 19th of November in Bucharest, Romania at Heroes Fight League. The SBG Ireland fighter will take on Ionut Brostic (4-0) in a Lightweight clash.

Hammond is another fighter that has spent some time learning his craft in the amateur ranks, fighting on twenty occasions in the 7oz gloves. Similar to his teammates Ciarán Clarke and Danni Neilan, Hammond was often seen at IMMAF competitions. He represented Ireland at five separate IMMAF events, winning two European silver medals and a gold medal at the 2018 World Championships.

Of his twenty amateur bouts, only six went the distance with most of his wins coming via submission. Hammond is highly regarded for his grappling ability and once hit a very rare berimbolo in an MMA fight. He also caught the attention of fans when finished a fight with a “Hammoplata”. A submission he described as a combination between an omoplata and a head and arm choke.

Across from him will be an undefeated Ionut Brostic, who has struggled to stay consistent. Fighting three times in 2015 and once in 2019. The promotion regards him as one of the best Lightweights in Romania. Brostic has been fond of a submission victory himself, with three recorded submission victories.

The slick submission specialist won’t be the sole SBG Ireland fighter on the card. Teammate Ion Pascu is also slated to fight in the Main Event. He will face Ukraine’s Maxim Soroka for the first belt the promotion has put up for grabs.
