Richie Smullen Lightweight Title Fight set for Real Fight Promotion 88

SBGHQ’s Richie Smullen (8-2-1) will get the chance to become a promotional double champion next month at RFP 88. The Arklow man, and current RFP Featherweight Champion, will step in to take on Miroslav Dushnyuk for the Lightweight Title in just over 4 weeks times on February 20th.

Smullen announced the news on his Instagram page on Monday night.

The former UFC and Bellator competitor will pack his bags and make the trip to Kolomyia, Ukraine to challenge for his second title since joining Real Fight Promotion at the midway point of 2021. In June 2021, Smullen made his debut and picked up a a first round submission win over Maksim Sischuk. That impressive win saw him get a shot at the RFP 145-pound title against Igor Grytskiv in October of last year. Smullen seized the opportunity and got a second round TKO victory enroute to picking up his first professional title since making his professional debut in 2016.

The SBGHQ man will have the chance to pick up more gold next month when he fights for the Lightweight Title at Real Fight Promotion on February 20th. Smullen spoke to SerereMMA after he won the RFP featherweight crown last October, you can watch that interview below.
