4 Irish Fighters Added to Bellator 299 in Dublin

Four SBG Ireland fighters have been added to Bellator’s return show to Dublin later this year.

Per a Bellator press release, Bellator 299: Eblen vs Edwards will feature Peter Queally, Ciarán Clarke, Charlie Ward and Darragh Kelly on Saturday 23rd September in Dublin’s 3Arena.

Peter Queally (13-8-1) will look to snap a three-fight losing streak against Italian Daniele Miceli (10-5). “The Showstopper” most recently suffered a 2nd-round TKO at the hands of Bryce Logan at Bellator 291 in February, and the Waterford fighter will aim to returning to winning ways in front of his 3Arena faithful when he welcomes Miceli back to the Bellator cage for the first time since April 2016. Miceli lost his sole Bellator outing via 1st-round stoppage at the hands of Queally’s SBG Ireland teammate Daniele Scatizzi.

Drogheda fan favourite and rising prospect, Ciarán Clarke (7-0), is set to take on Poland’s Przemysław Górny (5-3) in a bantamweight contest. Clarke is coming off a dominating victory over Leonardos Sinis at Bellator 291 in February. The SBG Ireland man has the opportunity to extend his perfect pro record to 8-0 when he faces the Bellator newcomer Górny. It will be the first time Clarke competes at the bantamweight weight class since his amateur contest versus Scott McConnell at Man of War FC 5 all the way back in 2012.

Irish MMA veteran Charlie Ward (10-6) returns to the Bellator cage for the 11th time as “Relentless” strives to snap a two-fight losing skid in a middleweight bout versus 33-fight veteran Gregory Babene (22-11). Ward most recently lost via decision against Mike Shipman last time out in Dublin. Babene is currently riding a 7-fight win streak dating back to 2014, with the Frenchman most recently knocking out Mike Shipman in the first round of their fight at Bellator 280 in May 2022

Undefeated prospect Darragh Kelly (4-0) returns to the Bellator featherweight division against Dutch fighter Jelle Zeegers (2-2). Kelly was granted a one-fight release from the promotion to stay active and compete on Clan Wars 47 earlier this month, where “The Moville Mauler” dispatched Brazilian Andre Ferreira (2-4) in via 2nd-round d’arce choke. Zeegers is set to make his Bellator debut. “Barbarious” last fought in November 2021, losing via decision to pro debutant Ahmad Abbas (0-0).
