Flyweight contender Ray Borg has issued a brief statement following his withdrawal from this weekends UFC 215 main event. Borg was scheduled to challenge Demetrious Johnson for the flyweight championship.

In the statement to Damon Martin of MMAWeekly.com Borg said:

“First, I want to say I’m sorry to the fans and to Demetrious Johnson for being unable to fight, I want to say thank you to Dr. Davidson, the UFC and to Jeff Novitsky for looking out for my health and best interests. I also want to add that I am no longer working with Perfecting Athletes and Michelle Ingels, who was not authorized to speak on my behalf.”

The UFC has bumped the highly anticipated rematch between Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko to the main event slot. Nunes and Shevchenko met previously at UFC 196 in March 2016 where Amanda edged out a decision victory. She went on to become the bantamweight champion several months later at UFC 200.

The pair were scheduled to headline UFC 213 in July of this year. The fight was pulled at the eleventh hour due to Amanda said to be suffering with a bout of chronic sinusitis.
