Joe Duffy vs Joel Alvarez Scheduled for UFC “Fight Island”

Joseph Duffy (16-4) returns to the Octagon to face Spain’s Joel Alvarez (16-2) at UFC Fight Night: Figueiredo vs. Benavidez 2 on Saturday 18th July. UFC President Dana White revealed the full list of “Fight Island” matchups to Megan Olivi earlier today. The four events will take place on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Duffy is on a two-fight skid, and this will be the first time he competes since a unanimous decision loss to Marc Diakiese in March 2019. That loss was also the first time in his career the Donegal native lost back-to-back fights. Duffy will look to rebound into the win column when he clashes with 6’3” Alvarez.

Alvarez comes into the contest with Duffy with a 1-1 UFC record, most recently finishing Danilo Belluardo in the second round of their fight in Stockholm, Sweden in June of last year. “El Fenomeno” will have a significant size and reach advantage over Duffy, and this match-up is expected to be a crowd pleaser.

Duffy vs Alvarez will be on the prelims portion of the card.
