John Mitchell to face Konstantinos Ntelis at UAE Warriors 24 on Oct 29th

Undefeated Irish prospect John Mitchell (3-0) is scheduled to face Greek fighter Konstantinos “The Gambler” Ntelis (6-1) in a lightweight contest at UAE Warriors 24 on Friday 29th October. SevereMMA confirmed the matchup—which will take place inside Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Abu Dhabi—with sources from both camps.

On the back of a successful 14-fight amateur career, Mitchell has dazzled since turning pro in late 2019. The MMA Cork fighter opened his professional account with a hard-fought decision victory over Team Ryano’s Eric Nolan, an entertaining fight that brought Neptune Stadium to its feet at Cage Warriors 110. Mitchell followed that performance up with a clinical 1st-round submission of Alan Brykalski at Cage Warriors 114, and it looked like he was truly on his way to making waves in the famous European promotion.

With the COVID-19 pandemic in full swing and family ties in the Middle East, the Corkonian made his way to Dubai just under a year ago. While Mitchell still represents MMA Cork, he has found a new home in MTK Strong MMA, training alongside the likes of UFC fighter Mounir Lazzez.

Now living in Dubai, Mitchell left the yellow Cage Warriors gloves behind when he made his UAE Warriors promotional debut in June, winning via 2nd-round TKO in what was a thorough destruction of Arbi Emiev. Mitchell is set to face the toughest test of his pro career to date when he squares off against Konstantinos Ntelis.

Ntelis is the most experienced opponent Mitchell has encountered thus far on the pro scene. Despite being just 20 years old, the Greek fighter has already amassed a 6-1 pro record. A keen grappler, “The Gambler” has already notched 4 of his 6 wins via submission. Ntelis’ most recent outing to the cage saw him make light work of Selvin Ramcilovic at Quest MMA 2, locking in a rear-naked choke to end the fight inside a round. Though Ntelis has fought just once in MMA in 2021, he has stayed active by competing (and winning) in grappling bouts at Subquest throughout the year.
